Frequently asked

Questions about getting online.

The answers below preserve the information from the original FAQ while updating references that have aged since it was written.

I already have a website. How do I transfer it?

A transfer can usually be staged without disturbing the existing live site. If administrative/file access is available, the site can be copied to a new hosting location, updated, reviewed at a temporary location, and tested before the domain is pointed to the new version. The original site remains available during that work.

If direct administrative access is not available, a public-facing site can sometimes still be reconstructed or migrated, although it can require more work and may not include private server-side functions that cannot be accessed.

What about adding more features later?

That is expected. The service has traditionally focused on small businesses, and a site can grow with the business. Many features can be added to an existing site without rebuilding everything. More advanced functions—especially commerce or custom applications—may require additional planning.

Will I have full administrative access to my site?

Yes. The original hosting service provided a control panel, email management, CGI access and unlimited FTP access. A current implementation should likewise give the site owner appropriate administrative access to the hosting account, files, databases and email features included with the specific plan.

How are your design fees so low?

The original answer gave three reasons: build long-term customer relationships, keep designs straightforward and easy to navigate, and use repeatable design techniques that make consistent pages easier to build and maintain.

That “keep it simple” principle remains useful. A website does not become better merely because it has more animation or visual effects. Clear structure, readable information, fast performance and easy navigation usually matter more.

How long will it take to get my site up and running?

The historical guideline was generally within two weeks for a typical site, depending on its size. A working design can often be established before all content is complete. Timing ultimately depends on complexity, how much existing material must be migrated, how quickly business information is supplied, and whether custom functions or an online store are involved.

I'm not a computer expert. Can I really run a website?

Yes. Many service-business sites need little routine maintenance beyond keeping contact and service information current. Domain email can be used directly or forwarded to another mailbox. For information that changes often—such as specials or schedules—a custom update interface can be provided.

Online stores require more attention because orders, products and customer questions must be managed, but the goal is still to make routine tasks understandable to someone who can comfortably use email and ordinary web forms.

What about canceling my plan?

The original policy stated that setup/design fees, domain registration and secure-certificate fees were non-refundable; hosting carried a 30-day satisfaction guarantee; and cancellations after that period were not prorated. Because plans and service terms can change, confirm the current cancellation terms before purchasing.
